Protesters Supporting Jailed Ex-PM Khan Removed from Pakistan's Capital Center


 Over 10,000 protesters flooded into Islamabad over the weekend, responding to former Prime Minister Imran Khan's call to oppose what he claims was his unjust sidelining from February’s elections, which he alleges were rigged to block his return to power.

The government deployed 20,000 security personnel to the capital, confronting demonstrators as they advanced towards a public square near parliament and the prime minister's residence, which they intended to occupy. Overnight, clashes erupted as police and paramilitary forces used tear gas and rubber bullets against protesters armed with sticks and slingshots, while roadblocks were set on fire.
