Lebanon Truce Holds as Israeli Attacks on Gaza Described as 'Absolutely Terrifying'
People are returning to their damaged homes in parts of Lebanon as a ceasefire holds between Israel and Hezbollah. The Lebanese armed group has claimed a "victory" over Israeli forces and stated that its fighters remain prepared for further action.
Meanwhile, a senior UNRWA official described the heavy Israeli bombardment in Gaza as "absolutely terrifying" for the Palestinian civilians still trapped in the northern Gaza Strip.
In southern Lebanon, Israel's military has imposed a night-time curfew and warned that travel south of the Litani River is prohibited until 7 a.m. (05:00 GMT) on Thursday.
The ongoing violence has led to devastating casualties: at least 44,282 Palestinians have been killed and 104,880 injured in Gaza since October 7, 2023. In Israel, at least 1,139 people died in Hamas-led attacks on that day, with over 200 taken captive.
In Lebanon, the death toll has reached at least 3,823, with 15,859 people wounded from Israeli attacks since the conflict began.
