India’s Operation Sindoor Delivered Precision Strikes, Gave Strategic Edge Over Pakistan: NYT
India’s recent military operation, codenamed Operation Sindoor, caused “clear damage” to Pakistan’s military infrastructure and gave New Delhi a strategic advantage during the four-day conflict, according to a report by The New York Times, which analyzed satellite imagery of the strikes.
The report describes the clashes as the most intense military engagement between the nuclear-armed neighbors in over five decades. Both countries deployed drones and missiles to probe air defenses and target military installations, but high-resolution satellite images reveal that India’s strikes were more impactful.
India has described its strikes as “precise” and “non-escalatory,” in contrast to accusations that Pakistan targeted both civilian and military sites.
Satellite Images Reveal Targeted Damage
The NYT investigation found that India inflicted measurable damage on multiple Pakistani military sites. While both nations claimed to have dealt serious blows to each other’s assets, the satellite analysis suggests the most significant destruction occurred at Pakistani military airfields and facilities, consistent with Indian statements.
“India appears to have gained a clear edge by targeting Pakistan’s military infrastructure more effectively,” the report stated. It also noted that the nature of the strikes shifted from symbolic displays of force to strategic attacks focused on degrading military capabilities.
Controlled Yet Significant
Though widespread in scale, the damage from India’s operation was controlled and deliberate, countering exaggerated claims of large-scale destruction. NYT concluded that both nations demonstrated precision in their targeting, but India’s effectiveness was more pronounced.
National Response
Following the operation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation, praising the armed forces. Images from Punjab’s Adampur Airbase captured the Prime Minister and military personnel with visible expressions of relief and pride, highlighting the morale boost among the forces.
