Los Angeles Wildfires: 5 Dead, 26,000 Acres Burned as Palisades and Eaton Fires Rage Uncontained

The Palisades Fire in Los Angeles County is burning thousands of acres

Wildfires raging across Los Angeles County have claimed five lives and forced tens of thousands to evacuate. Officials report that more than 1,000 structures have been destroyed as the fires continue to spread, fueled by strong Santa Ana winds, low humidity, and prolonged drought conditions.

According to L.A. County Sheriff Robert Luna, the death toll has risen to five. The devastation spans multiple fires, with the Palisades Fire and Eaton Fire causing the most destruction.

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) provided the following updates:
Palisades Fire: Over 15,800 acres burned
Eaton Fire: 10,600 acres burned
Hurst Fire: Approximately 500 acres burned
Lidia Fire: 50 acres burned
Woodley Fire: 30 acres burned

In addition, the Olivas Fire is burning in nearby Ventura County. None of the fires are currently contained, as officials race to protect lives and property.

With conditions expected to worsen due to continued high winds and critically dry vegetation, firefighters face an uphill battle to contain the flames.
