Thousands of supporters of Pakistan’s jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan breached barricades around the capital on Tuesday, clashing with security forces and demanding his release.
Authorities responded with a security lockdown, internet blackouts, and roadblocks to prevent protesters from reaching key areas, following Khan’s call for a march on parliament.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated that protesters would be allowed to remain on the outskirts of Islamabad but warned of severe measures if they entered the city.
